Come on guys... you're demonstrating exactly why EFT is such an addiction at the moment... give the man some time and bust out your pocket calculator in the meantime. Or look closely and discover that you can for example fit out an Onyx without that many problems if you compare it to, say, a Cerberus...

I too found 2.4 to be too low a number. Sure, the difference is not the most glaring one in the world, but it is there. And I do want to know the theoretical maximum.
EFT is a tool for the theory, and everyone should know that. There is no reason to artificially make the numbers look lower than they actually are, especially if you only do it for one out of several possible tanking methods. Anyone who takes the numbers from EFT at face value and expects the game to behave like them will die anyway, and deservingly so.
It's about knowing the theory, knowing the practice, and knowing the difference between the two. I don't want someone to hide the theory from me.

Still learning EFT here, how do you apply implants? They donĘt seem to be changing my HP regen. Is there an easy way to swap between 3%, 5%, 10%, 15% hitpoint boosts?
You can also open the character editor and select implants for each slot manually.

This has happened to me before. I went and did it again, and then the skills updated. So just keep trying.
Dunno if it is a EFT known issue or just a problem with the API in general - try browsing a couple of pages back and see if you find something.

There hasn't been a post-Trinity 1.1 release yet. The EFT version 2.5 was actually just an extra release that would let people play with the modified ships (5 turret Eagle, optimal range Apoc etc). In fact, though I may be mistaken, I think EFT 2.5 was out before Trinity 1.1 already.
I assume Gripen is working on a real Trinity 1.1 release.

Yes, same issue. It's an API problem. We can only hope CCP fixes it swiftly (and maybe whine in the EVE technology discussion forum )

Minor bug report:
The skill "medium pulse laser specialization" requires as its prerequisite the skill "small beam laser specialization IV"
...shouldn't that be "small PULSE laser specialization IV"?

Originally by: Sephy'Ra I think i have a problem. I know this program is used at everyone's own risk but the problem is any version after 2.4 seems to display an incorrect cap recharge (+X.Y)for the Hulk. It basically just went up by 0.3. As a result one of my setups is shown cap-stable, but the cap runs dry after about 4 minutes (as displayed in version 2.4). Maybe that should be looked into again.
The reason for this is likely that module activation pushes your cap levels past the optimum recharge point, thus you don't get the full recharge as shown and your cap runs dry eventually.
Older EFT versions used a slightly more conservative number than the actual peak recharge, I believe to remember, so effects like these were compensated.

I have noticed that the cap recharge calculator doen't take into account anything that reduces shield booster cap usage, such as shield compansation skill or the core defence capacitor sa***uard rig.
Erm, I'm pretty sure it does. At least, in my EFT that I have open right now, the CDFs are working fine.

Are you sure your EFT profile didn't have some kind of implants on it? Because 1811 -> 1866 is pretty much exactly what a +3% cap implant does.
And there could be Talisman implants in there too, that improve your cap gain with the NOS, so you can actually run the Neuts in EFT but not on TQ where you don't have these implants.
I mean, could be that EFT is wrong, but my experience has taught me that everytime I thought EFT was wrong, i ended up finding that I had forgotten to remove the implants I used for my last experimental fit.

Will EFT ever feature Named modules or likewise?
Define "named modules".
Going by the definition as the community uses it, "named" items are the tech 1 low meta variants. I.e. for a missile launcher, the malkuth, limos, SV-xxxx and arbalest variants. These are available in EFT and have been for a long time.
What you mean are probably the high meta variants, which should be called "faction" items (dread guristas, dark blood, etc), "deadspace" items (Gist, Pith, etc), and "officer" items (so-and-so's modified stuff).
These are also available in EFT. Look at the very bottom of the window where you can choose modules. There are four tabs for "market", "faction", "deadspace", and "officer" modules. |

Btw good job so far.
When editing a setup, click on the "projected effects" tab at the bottom. Now find the item you want to have affect the ship in the module listing, and drag it to this area. This works for rep drones just as well as for remote sensor boosters, target painters, or anything that a friendly or enemy ship might point at you.
However, that will give only the base effect before skills. To have the final effect, design a second ship, set appropriate skills for it, load the drones into its drone bay (or fit the remote modules onto the ship) and then drag them from there into the projected effects area of your own ship.
Extra hint: if you want gang assist modules to affect your ship, you must design a second ship that uses them (like a BC or command ship), set skills for it, then find the "gang bonuses" tab at the bottom of your first ship and set "squad commander -> bonuses from ship -> [the ship with gang mods]". |

Originally by: FlameGlow Can you add a simple option to set target's shield resistances, speed(plain and transversal), distance and signature radius and recalculate setups's DPS with those?
You can do that with the DPS graph.
Design your ship. Design a second ship to be the target. Make sure both are opened in separate design windows.
Click "File -> New DPS graph".
Right-click on the window to the right, above the speed throttles, and select "add attacker -> [your ship]" and "add target -> [second ship]". Now you can set yours and the targets speed with the throttles. Also, the graph updates in real time with changes to make to either of your ships in their design windows (for example, if you turn the target's MWD on or its shield hardeners off).
Right-click at any point in the DPS graph to receive and exact measure of how much DPS is being done at that exact range. Also, if you have multiple attackers and/or multiple targets, you can click on the various graphs to bolden them.
Extra hint: make the DPS graph window much larger for better detail! |

You might need to configure proxy settings. I cannot tell you what to put there though, because only you can have that knowledge. |

Doomsday Proof test in EFT:
right-click on defense, edit damage profiles. Create a profile each for 100% EM, Therm, Kin and Explosive.
Fit your ship. Activate the previously created damage profiles one after the other. If your effective HP drops below 70,500 on any of them, you are not doomsday secure against that damage type.
Next, set the all level 5 profile as your squad commander. Check the figures again. If you are still not doomsday secure against the type(s) you want, you need to improve your tank.

I also would thinkthat eft could also auto update a previous version of eft installed on a persons computer.
Don't get me wrong.. Gripen you are doing an awesome job and it is appreciated, but a shorcut at the very least is a damn MUST!!!!!
I have been using eft 2.3 since it came out and if eft's updates would ever update the 2.3 version, i'd use the newer versions, but it never does.
oh and the crap that you have on your FAQ page is just that.. crap. it certainly reminds me of corporate America's idea of FAQ's.. and those are useless.
I'm certain that i'm not the only eve player who has seen the fact that there is NO shortcut for this program.
Please fix these items immediately :)
thanks
So? Then make yourself a shortcut. Surely you are proficient enough with Microsoft Windows to know and understand the entire two-click process that it takes...?
Also, auto-updaters are NOT a trivial thing that just anyone can develop and run. In addition to the added development effort, it requires that you have your own static file server (or a paid storage service) online 24/7, with enough bandwidth to handle (in EFT's case) possibly a five digit amount of users after a new version release.
Seriously, people who post stuff like this have zero idea how application development and release actually works. Just as long as they can mooch off of someone else's free service... *pet peeve*
